About the Victim Support Agency
The Victim Support Agency was established under LN418 of 2020. It has been entrusted to ensure that Victims Support Services are run, managed, and provided in terms of the existing and approved standards from time to time.
The Role
The duties of Legal Officer (Victim Support) shall include;
- Provide and assist in the provision of legal advice generally, including legal research and advice on policy development as well as assisting in the screening, identification and analysis of legal issues and risks and applying sound judgement thereto;
- Vetting and/or drafting of legal instruments/agreements binding the Agency;
- If and when necessary, assisting in matters related to litigation or potential litigation;
- Ensuring that the Agency meets its obligations in terms of the General Data Protection Regulation.
- Tender advice with respect to the VSA’s processes in the light of better policies and to continuously develop processes to improve services in line with strategic objectives of the Agency.
- Providing legal assistance to clients referred to VSA in legal and judicial matters. including drafting of judicial acts and any other document of a legal nature required.
- Participate in meetings and training, both set locally or abroad, as required.
- Liaise and coordinate with the VSA’s internal & external professionals in relation to the service user care and the agency’s policies and procedures.
- Any other duties according to the exigencies of the Victim Support Agency as directed by the CEO.
Eligibility requirements
By the closing time and date of this call of applications, applicants must be:
- In possession of a University of Malta Degree in Law (LL.D or Master of Advocacy level) or a comparable recognized legal qualification at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC), together with possession of a warrant to practice in the Courts of Malta
AND
- A recent and clean Police Conduct Certificate.
